I was looking up reviews for a product the other day, which led me to look up reviews for my all time favorite infomercial for the ShamWow. Just take a look at this beauty: (more…)
I just finished reading a book by this guy who walked most of the Appalachian Trail and it inspired me to do something similar, so me and Sam loaded up in the Jeep and drove out into the country to scout out a route for me to make my journey, a journey much like the guy who wrote the aforementioned book. A while back we went on a road trip to Arizona along what’s left of Route 66 and it was the best vacation ever, even when you factor in all of the snow and getting trapped in New Mexico in record snowfall at a hotel where the heater didn’t really work which under normal circumstances would suck huge, but in the bigger picture it was perfectly fine. At least looking back it was fine. It’s possible that, at the time, we were cursing our fate but today I only remember the fun stuff.
So in few weeks we will likely be heading to Yellowstone National Park to have a look around and see what all of the fuss is about. Or we will go somewhere else. The whole point is to just do what we feel like doing at the moment because that is the beauty of the road trip.
OK, I gotta go. The game is on and I am in the running to win the game-picking-pool-thing, whatever you call those, and this is the first time that has happened in several years because for the most part, I suck at picking who is going to win a game. I mean seriously, it shouldn’t be that hard. You have a 50-50 chance without even know anything at all about the sport. And yet I still can’t pick half of them right. Until today!!!
So I am going through my mail (real mail, not email) and I got one of those things from a charity that has a nickel in it and on the outside it says “The enclosed nickel can help provide life-saving assistance”. So I guess I have to mail that nickel back to them to help out. The instructions aren’t really clear.
Seems like a poorly thought out fund raiser. They are basically saying, “All we really need from you is this nickel we just sent you.” I’m thinking they can stop mailing out the nickels which would save them the postage price, plus they would still have their nickel, because let’s face, I’m pretty sure not all of the nickels they mail out get returned to them. They should just keep them. So instead of running the risk of losing a total of 46 cents on each transaction, they would be making 5 cents on each transaction, and in time, I think they would be somewhat profitable.
Man, I could turn that whole organization around in a matter of years. And I didn’t even go to business school.
