Thanks to the Economic Stimulus Package so kindly given to us in order to distract us from…. well, I won’t go into that, but I did use the money to buy a king size bed, and not just any bed, but one of those memory foam suckers. After putting it in place, I realized our old headboard was woefully inadequate, so I built a new one out of stuff I had lying around the house.
Here’s what the new bed looked like with the old headboard:
Pretty stupid looking, huh? After a few days of trying to ignore it, I started thinking of what I could do to make a new headboard with as little effort as possible. I tried the “no headboard” look, but it wasn’t working out.
So I decided to grab a sheet of chipboard from the garage that was left over when we built our house. I then took the 4″ memory foam pad we had on the old bed and cut both to an appropriate size. I then glued the foam to the board and then wrapped it with some unused fabric that wasn’t being used for anything (whoa, that’s redundant). Then end result was this:
I screwed some 1X2 wood strips to the wall and to the new headboard, and viola!!!
Yep, pretty handy to have around.
